Bhaskaracharya Tripathi from M.P. receives
with Sahitya Akademi Award

Bhaskaracharya Tripathi from Madhya Pradesh was today presented with Sahitya Akademi Award 2003 for his book Nirjharni (poetry) at a glittering literary function held here today. The award was given by the President of Sahitya Akademi Award, Prof. Gopi Chand Narang. The award carries a cheque of amount of Rs. fifty thousand and citation certificate.

      Bhaskaracharya Tripathi was born in Pandar, Jasra, Allahabad in 1942. He has done his M.A. and D. Phil in Sanskrit from the University of Allahabad. He also knows Hindi and English. After holding several teaching positions, he is now Professor of Sanskrit in Govt. Ramanand Sanskrit College, Lalghati, Bhopal. He has completed 15 works in Sanskrit including poetry and literary criticism.

      The award winning title Nirjharini, is a collection of modern style gitas (lyrical poems). The poems are written in a traditional diction and yet have a modern outlook, the language being flawless, racy and rhythmic. The work is uniformly excellent and adds magnificently to Indian poetry in Sanskrit. In today’s award ceremony, the Akademi presented awards to 22 writers from 22 languages recognized by the Akademi.
