They will benefit all big and small farmers
There is no better well-wisher of farmers in the country than PM Shri Modi-CM Shri Chouhan

भोपाल : मंगलवार, दिसम्बर 8, 2020, 19:59 IST

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that all the three agricultural laws implemented in the country by the Central government are farmer-friendly and will not only increase the income of farmers significantly, but it is a big step for their financial security. He clearly said that procurement on Minimum Support Price will continue, there is no question of ending it. Agricultural produce mandis will also continue to function as before, as well as farmers will benefit from the competitive system of giving the farmers facility to sell crops outside the mandis.

Farmers of Madhya Pradesh are assured

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh has the highest agricultural growth rate. The farmers here understand that all three new agricultural laws are beneficial for them, so they are totally assured. Many people are spreading misconceptions, but their efforts will not succeed.

Shri Manmohan Singh’s government was in favour of implementing APMC Act

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the Shri Manmohan Singh ji’s government was in favour of implementing the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Act. The then Union Agriculture Minister, Shri Sharad Pawar had written a letter to him that “there is need to amend the present Agricultural Produce Trade and Commerce Act (APMC Act) on the lines of Model APMC Act 2003. This will encourage private sector investment in market-infrastructure and open the way for alternative competitive markets in the overall interest of farmers, consumers and agri-business.”

Attention to all big and small farmers

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the government is conscious about the interests of all farmers, big and small and new laws are beneficial for all. There are about 80 lakh farmers in Madhya Pradesh, but only 12-13 lakh farmers sell their crops at minimum support price. Small farmers are given honorarium of Rs four thousand per year under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Kalyan Nidhi Yojana. The Government of Madhya Pradesh has increased it to Rs 10 thousand. We are concerned about every farmer.

Maximum wheat procurement on support price in Madhya Pradesh

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that in the last few days, maximum one crore 29 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was purchased from 16 lakh farmers on support price. Currently , paddy procurement is in progress. Farmers were benefited through Bhavantar Yojana also in the state. Madhya Pradesh is a big supporter of minimum support price system.

Mandi fee reduced to 50 paisa in Madhya Pradesh

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that we are improving the operation of Krishi Upaj Mandis, so that farmers can get maximum benefits. Mandi duty in the state was reduced from Rs 1.50 paisa to 50 paisa. This will definitely benefit the farmers.

Great protection to farmers from contract farming

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill will prove very helpful in protecting farmers from the risk of market uncertainty. While contract farming will give farmers a fixed price for their crop, the contract can be canceled if the market price increases. Thus farmers have no fear of loss. The likelihood that someone might take over the land of the farmer is also baseless.

Increased demand will benefit farmers

With the third bill, the Essential Commodities Amendment Bill, 2020, demand for agricultural products will increase and farmers will benefit from the increase in demand. Along with this, cold storage, food processing and agricultural infrastructure etc. will be developed with increased purchase of agricultural products. Agricultural produce will not decay and farmers will have long-term benefits.

Continuous work in the interest of farmers

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the government is constantly working in the interest of farmers. Central government provided concessional loan of Rs 4.2 lakh crores to three crore farmers of the country, Rs 94 thousand crore was given to 14 crore farmers under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana, Rs 50 thousand crores was provided to over six crore farmers under Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme and about 2.5 crore farmers were given Rs two lakh crores under Kisan Credit Card Scheme.

Comparative status of support price procurement

Stating the comparative status of purchase of agricultural products on support price between the UPA government’s tenure 2009 to 2014 and the NDA government tenure from 2014 to 2019, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that during this period the UPA government purchased paddy worth Rs 2.06 lakh crore, while NDA government purchased paddy worth Rs 4.95 lakh crore, U.P.A. government bought wheat worth Rs 1.68 lakh crore, while the NDA government bought wheat worth Rs 2.97 crore, UPA government bought pulses worth Rs 45 crore, while NDA government purchased pulses worth Rs 49 thousand crore and the UPA Government bought oilseeds and copra for Rs 2460 crore, while NDA government purchased oilseeds and copra worth Rs 25,000 crore. This shows how much our government is in favour of the support price.
