Priority to gauvansh protection in the state: Chief Minister Shri Chouhan

Efforts for cow protection and cow breeding in consultation with experts

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that maximum efforts will be made for the conservation and promotion of cows in the state. An effective action plan will be prepared in this direction and its ground implementation will also be ensured. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that an effective action plan for promotion of cows will be prepared soon in the cow sanctuary situated in Salaria in Agar-Malwa district on Gopashtami festival. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that gauvansh protection is also one of the important priorities of the state government.

Efforts for cow protection and cow promotion are being made in the state on the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. In this connection, where the first cow sanctuary of the country launched in Madhya Pradesh on the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Chouhan, now efforts of cow protection and promotion will begin with the participation of society. New ventures like the formation of gau-cabinet in Madhya Pradesh and participation of gau-seva experts in cow sanctuary has started. Madhya Pradesh will benefit from the experience of experts for gauvansh protection.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has decided to visit the cow sanctuary on the day of Gopashtami and perform gau-pujan there to encourage cow-rearing and cow-production in the state. Promoting indigenous breed of cows in cow rearing, promoting and using gau-kasht as a better alternative for wood, manufacturing and selling various products made from cow-milk, promotion of gau-mutra products and modern cow-breeding and the work of starting cow research centre will be carried out on priority. The agriculture sector will also benefit from these efforts. This will pave the way for economic upliftment of farmers and cattle rearers.

Gaushalas and sheds are also being built to provide shelter to such gauvansh that wander from villages and fields to other areas. Self-help groups are being given the responsibility of maintenance of cows. The Chief Minister’s Gaushala Yojana is provided finance assistance by the Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Department and Animal Husbandry Department also. Efforts for development of pasture, borewells for arrangement of drinking water in gaushalas and construction of ponds in nearby areas will be made.

Major participation of six departments

The Departments of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Forest, Revenue, Panchayat and Rural Development and Home Department will be major participants for the implementation of the decisions of the gau-cabinet. Chairperson of gau-cabinet is Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Members include Ministers Dr. Narottam Mishra, Shri Kunwar Vijay Shah, Shri Kamal Patel, Dr. Mahendra Singh Sisodia and Shri Prem Singh Patel.

CM Shri Chauhan will visit cow sanctuary

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan will go to inspect the cow sanctuary at Salaria in Agar-Malwa district on Sunday, 22 November. A detailed discussion will be held with the prominent gau seva experts regarding cow protection and promotion.
