By elections in 28 assembly constituencies of 19 districts of the state today

Polling will be held on November 3 from 7 am to 6 pm for the by-elections to be held in 28 assembly constituencies of 19 districts of the state. Chief Electoral Officer Madhya Pradesh has appealed to voters to vote in maximum number to strengthen democracy.

Joint Chief Electoral Officer Shri Mohit Bundas informed that all necessary arrangements have been completed at polling stations for safety from Covid-19. To ensure that no voter is left out from polling, voters have been made aware through Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities. Voting is very important to strengthen democracy. Voting is not only your right but is also your duty. All voters including men, women, disabled, youth, senior citizens, transgenders, labourers, farmers and traders have been inspired to take part in polling.

For safe polling from Covid-19, care will be taken to ensure masking, use of sanitizer, soap, water, temperature checking system and social distance at polling booths. Voting time has been extended by one hour in this by-election compared to the previous elections in view of Covid-19. Arrangement of auxiliary polling stations has been made to avoid too much crowding in polling stations. Circles will be made at a distance of 6 feet to follow social distancing at the polling stations, Total care has been taken at the polling stations to remove myths regarding Covid-19 among voters, by following the Covid-19 guidelines. Required sanitization of polling booth has been carried out. PPE kits have been provided to the polling personnel. If a voter’s temperature is recorded above the prescribed criteria repeatedly on measuring twice, he will have to vote in the last hour of voting, while adhering to preventive measures of Covid-19. Covid suspects / Quarantine voters will enter the polling station only one at a time.

Voters have been encouraged to vote through awareness vehicles, wall writing, flex, hoardings and posters under SVEEP activities. Information about the voting process will be provided through seven types of posters available at the polling stations. Arrangements for drinking water, shades for voters, toilets, wheel chairs, ramps, assistants for disabled voters etc. will also be available at polling stations.
