Union Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan holds discussions regarding Corona control with state officials

Madhya Pradesh lauded for efforts made for Corona control

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Harshvardhan held virtual discussions with collectors of all districts of Madhya Pradesh in the presence of senior officials of health ministries on Wednesday. Comparing the situation of Covid in Madhya Pradesh with that of the country, Dr Harshvardhan said that ‘India’s recovery rate is 89 percent at present, while the rate of recovery in Madhya Pradesh is 90.55 percent. This is the result of the best efforts made by the state for Covid control.

Union Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan stated the need to make the citizens more aware towards the spread of Covid and ensure adherence to preventive measures against Covid.

Dr. Harshvardhan expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for launching the public movement to generate awareness among the citizens. The public movement includes wearing masks in the right way, keeping two yards distance from each other and washing hands frequently. Dr. Harshvardhan told the state officials to be vigilant during the coming winter season and festive months.

Union Minister Dr. Harshvardhan congratulated the state for having only 2 percent active cases in the state in place of 10 percent active cases earlier out of the total active cases in India. He directed to ensure more work in Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Sagar, Khargone and Ujjain for further improvement in the situation.

Additional Chief Secretary Health Shri Mohammad Suleman told the Union Minister that the state’s positivity rate is 6.17 percent, which is higher than the national average. However, more than 50 percent of the tests in the state are being conducted by RT PCR. Shri Suleman apprised the Union Minister with the steps to be taken to tackle Covid in the coming months; Standard Operating Procedure has been released for amusement parks and maternal wards; Sarthak app is being used for effective control of the virus. After Durga Utsav, less than 10 people will be present during the immersion of idols, while the number of people allowed in the pandals has been restricted to 100; the Sahyog se Suraksha Abhiyan was started on August 15, under which awareness is being created and efforts are also being made to make people aware of preventive measures against Covid. He apprised the Union Minister with the steps taken to make the logistics of delivery of Covid vaccine smooth.

Director of National Centre for Disease Control Dr. Sujit K. Singh informed about the status of Covid in Madhya Pradesh and told the officials to be careful from influenza, as its cases increase in winter.

Union Health Secretary Shri Rajesh Bhushan, Additional Secretary of the Ministry Smt. Aarti Ahuja and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
