Implementation on time-bound programme for clean potable water in villages

CM Shri Chouhan performs virtual bhumi-pujan of 107 tap-water schemes
Holds talks with public representatives and members of Jal Swachhta samitis

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has taken an initiative to provide clean water to every house under the Jal Jeevan Mission for the people, dwelling in villages. The former Prime Minister Late Atal ji has accomplished the unique task of connecting every village with a pucca road under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. At the same time, the present Prime Minister Shri Modi is committed to get the important work of water supply done through taps to the villages within the stipulated time. Prime Minister Shri Modi deserves compliments and thanks for this. The economy is also getting strong in the villages by arrangements of transport, electricity, potable water etc. It is also rendering support in making the local into vocal. It is also essential to become competent in tackling challenges like the current Covid pandemic. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that often women in rural areas work to manage potable water for the household, so they will get special relief now from the implementation of these potable water schemes. In the coming six months execution of the schemes will be completed. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also called upon the villagers to contribute for the successful operation and maintenance of the potable water schemes. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was performing the virtual bhumi pujan of 107 rural potable water schemes in 18 districts of the state, where by-elections are not taking place, from Minto Hall Studio today.

Villagers have first right over resources

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that once upon a time, people used to fetch potable water from two to three kilometers by bullock carts and other means. People of villages, located on the banks of rivers also stored water in earthen pots and vessels. After the settling of mud at the bottom, the water was filtered and used. Even after this, many water borne diseases used to spread. Tribal-dominated districts of West Madhya Pradesh have to face the problem of fluoride mix water. Now the implementation of tap-water schemes will also help in keeping the rural population healthy. People of rural areas have the first right over the resources. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that through the formation of Water Corporation and group potable water schemes in the state in the past, the system of supplying water was made effective by constructing intake wells to treat water. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan instructed to ensure supply of clean potable water under these schemes also to schools and Anganwadi centres in these districts. It was informed in the programme that according to the resolution of the Prime Minister, the goal of supplying clean potable water to every household in the villages will be fulfilled in the next three years. In this direction, the Madhya Pradesh government is ensuring its implementation according to a time-bound programme. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also called upon the youth to start their own enterprises.

107 schemes in 18 districts

Among the 18 districts, for which the bhumi-pujan of 107 drinking water schemes was performed by the Chief Minister Shri Chouhan include 12 of Betul district, 13 of Sehore district, 2 of Vidisha district, One of Jhabua district, 8 of Khargone district, 5 of Barwani district, 6 of Ujjain district, 2 of Shajapur district, 2 of Sheopur district, 4 of Damoh district, One of Panna district, 3 of Tikamgarh district, 6 of Narsinghpur district, 2 of Mandla district, 4 of Satna district, 12 of Chhindwara district, 17 of Balaghat district and 7 of Seoni district. These schemes cost a total of Rs. 117 crore. All these potable water schemes belong to the districts, where by-elections are not taking place.

Chief Minister holds talks with members of Jal evam Swachhta Samiti

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan along with Members of Parliament Shri G.S. Damor, Shri Kailash Soni, Chairman of Mineral Corporation Shri Pradeep Jaiswal also interacted with the villagers of Sehore, Balaghat, Narsinghpur, Jhabua, Ujjain, etc. and members of Jal evam Swachhta Samitis as well as public representatives via video conferencing. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan talked to Shri Somal Singh Sisodia, Pradhan of Barodia Village of Sehore District, Sushri Champabai of Para village of Jhabua District, Shri Prashant Bisen, Chairman of Swachhta Samiti of Sirra village of Balaghat District and Sushri Nikita Katare, student of B.Sc., Shri Lal Singh Prajapati, Panch of Khamaria of Narsinghpur district and other committee members as well as Shri Jeevan Singh Garasia, Sarpanch of Jaivantpur village of Ujjain district. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also held talks with public representatives and villagers, present at the bhumi pujan programme in all these districts.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan asked to ensure women's participation in Gram Jal evam Swachhta Samitis. Committee members comprise 40 to 50 percent women. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also sought information regarding distribution of funds and about the amount of Samman Nidhi to farmers. The programme commenced with the Madhya Pradesh Gaan. Additional Chief Secretary Public Health Engineering Shri Malay Shrivastava gave detailed information on the aspects of the scheme.
