Madhya Pradesh ahead in filing return, tax collection, checking tax evasion

Commercial Tax Minister Shri Jagdish Devda takes part in 42nd GST Council meeting

Expressing his gratitude to the Central government for releasing Rs. 792 crore from the Compensation Cess Fund to Madhya Pradesh without delay through a video conference, Commercial Tax Minister Shri Jagdish Devda said that Madhya Pradesh has started being counted among the leading states of the country for return filing, tax collection and its efforts to prevent tax evasion. He said that the state will continue to be successful in this direction. Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister of State for Finance Shri Anurag Thakur discussed GST compensation of states at ongoing 42nd GST Council meeting today.

Shri Devda said that the state will be able to take Rs 4542 crore loan instead of Rs. 4056 crore due to choosing of option one. Its direct positive effect will be on public utility development works. He hoped that all the states would take advantage of this by adopting a positive attitude in this direction and would contribute in making the country financially strong.

Lauding the farsightedness of the Central government, Minister Shri Devda hoped that there would be no situation of delay in payment in future. The problems that have arisen due to Covid-19 will be completely resolved in future and the economy will return to a strong position.

The Commercial Tax Minister Shri Devda said that by choosing option one, Madhya Pradesh, will not have to pay interest and principal amount. This amount will be paid from the compensation fund. It is convenient for a state like Madhya Pradesh.

Minister Shri Devda thanked the Government of India for announcing a special package for Central government employees today to fulfil their demand. He said that the measures to increase demand in the economy will give positive results in future. Madhya Pradesh heartily welcomes the central government package of interest-free capital loans for the states, which is known for efficient financial management.

Principal Secretary Commercial Tax Smt. Deepali Rastogi and Commissioner Commercial Tax Shri Raghavendra Singh present in the meeting.
