Efforts to provide relief with help of Army to flood affected areas of Madhya Pradesh

Prime Minister Shri Modi apprised of situation
About 400 villages affected, also urged social organizations for cooperation

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that   the flood affected people are being helped in the state with promptness. Relief efforts have been carried out in the affected areas. About 10 thousand people have been saved through the rescue operation. No loss of life has caused. Boats are also active to evacuate people to safe places. Three helicopters of Air Force are conducting rescue operation. Four teams of NDRF are working actively. Commissioner Bhopal besides other officers of Bhopal division are constantly monitoring the flood affected areas of Bhopal division. Will not leave any stone unturned in rescue and relief efforts. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan in the morning today held a high level meeting with Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Director General of Police Shri Vivek Johri, Additional Chief Secretary Home Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Additional Chief Secretary Water Resources Shri S.N. Mishra, Principal Secretary to CM Shri Manish Rastogi and sought information in detail about the situation caused by heavy rains in the state.

Rescue operation continues in districts

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that a family was in trouble after heavy incessant rains in Valwat village of Hoshangabad district. The family was rescued by boat. Five people, including two infants in the family were stranded in the flood. Smt. Rajkumari Keer, Smt. Arti Keer, a boy aged 3 years, girls aged 5 months and two months have been evacuated safely. These kinds of efforts have also been carried out in Chhindwara, Balaghat, Sehore, Dewas, Seoni and Raisen districts. Families have been airlifted from Somalwara of Sehore district and sent to Shahganj.

CM Shri Chouhan monitors situation whole night continuously

In the last two days, over 7 thousand people have been evacuated safely from the flood affected villages of 12 districts of the state. Control room has been set up at CM house and monitoring is being done. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also conducted continuous monitoring in the midnight of Saturday and Sunday. About 400 villages of the state are affected by flood. As per the requirement, help is also being taken from the Army.

About 10 thousand people in relief camps

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that the record of heavy rainfall occurred 20 years ago is broken by incessant heavy rains in some parts of Narmadanchal. One hundred seventy relief camps have been set up in the state, in which around 9300 people have been accommodated. In view of corona crisis, arrangement of screening has also been made at several places. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan further mentioned that keeping in view the flood situation, necessary relief works are being conducted in affected areas. Rescue teams are active. It has been ensured that no loss to life caused in the state. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that the record of 1999 flood is broken.

Also briefed PM Shri Modi

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has informed that the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was also apprised of the situation of flood affected areas of the state. Union Minister for Defence was also informed in the past. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan further informed that no stone will be left unturned in providing relief in flood affected areas of the state. He said that heavy rains and flooding is being monitored continuously. Relief works are being done at war footing. No loss to life is caused at any place.

Abandon kachcha houses for protection

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan appealed the general public not to insist for staying back in flooded areas and on the call of administration, cooperate immediately to shift to other places or relief camps while taking precautions. Better arrangements are being made. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that kaccha houses do not bear the brunt of heavy rains. Action is also being taken to vacate these houses. Will not leave any stone unturned for the safety of people. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also urged the voluntary organizations to render cooperation. Lend help in providing food, clothes and other assistance to flood affected people. People dwelling in kachcha houses have been advised to shift to other places to protect their lives.

Will provide full benefits of provisions of Revenue Book Circular

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the benefit of all the relief provisions of the Revenue Book Circular (RBC 6-4) will be given to the farmers. The situation arising out of heavy rainfall will be assessed after survey. Full help will be given as per the eligibility after assessing real condition of crops. A process is also underway to provide benefit of insurance scheme to the farmers.

People airlifted with the help of IAF

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that 3 people of flood affected Kulmi village of Balaghat district have been airlifted. In Chhindwara district, 6 people have evacuated on August 29 from flood affected areas with the help of Indian Air Force. The Army and a team of NDRF are making effort to evacuate flood affected people in some villages like Bandrabhan of Hoshangabad district. Two companies have been deployed in Hoshangabad district. Some villages of Sehore district are still surrounded by flood. Administration is in constant contact with the people. If needed, team of NDRF along with Army Jawans will help affected people. A team of Army will help people of the vicinity by setting up base in Nasrullaganj and Shahganj.

Alertness of citizens important

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has informed that it is a matter of relief that rain is stopped at some places, water discharge from dams has also come down and the water level of Narmada Ji has also started decreasing gradually. But we need to be alert. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the awareness of the citizens is important in the situation of extreme rainfall. It is necessary for all of us to be vigilant, alert for self-protection. He has appealed to the people flood affected villages to abandon places on the call of the administration. Still, there is a possibility of rain. Dams are full. In such a situation, flood situation may occur again. For this reason, it is very important to be careful. In corona period too, efforts are being made for better arrangements in relief camps as far as possible, which will be successful with public support. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan appealed the social organizations and social activists for maximum help with the peoples’ cooperation in sending relief to the flood affected people.

Lauded Jawans for commendable works

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan lauded the works of Home Guards and SDERF Jawans for their commendable works undertaken in Hoshangabad district. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that Platoon Commanders Shri Rajkumar Katare, Shri Murgeshan, Jawans Shri Bharat Parihar, Aditya Rai, Himanshu, Anil Sharma and Charan Singh have protected life of some families. Staff of the District Administration, Revenue, District Police Force and office bearers of the social organizations have also helped flood affected people. News related to these kinds of humanitarian works is also being received from other districts.
