Suggestions of subject experts in webinar will make Madhya Pradesh Atma-Nirbhar

On the basis of suggestions given by the subject experts in different sessions held on various subjects at the Atma-Nirbhar Madhya Pradesh Webinar will prove fruitful in making Madhya Pradesh Atma-Nirbhar. Importation suggestions were given by various subject experts in six sessions on the topic ‘Physical Infrastructure’ held in the webinar. The Additional Chief Secretary Narmada Valley Development and Group Leader Shri I.C.P. Keshri briefed about the recommendations prepared on the basis of suggestions given by subject experts of various groups.

Travel and Tourism

The Additional Chief Secretary Narmada Valley Development and Group leader Shri I.C.P. Keshri informed that work like strengthening of institutional mechanism to support private investment and deferment of taxes like property tax, professional tax, bar licence fee etc., value addition at tourist places through private investment will be done and specific and theme based tourism circuit like Amarkantak, Ramayana Circuit, Tirthankar Circuit, Narmada Parikrama, Buffer me Safar, Rural Circuit and Tribal Circuit will be developed. Recommendations for Promotion of Experiential Tourism like Diamond Tour, Saree making tours, Baiga Village and local festivals, development of Tiger Safari in Kanha, Bandhavgarh and Pench, commencement of 20 recreation activities under PPP mode around wildlife experience areas, promotion of M.P. as Medical and Film Tourism destination, enhancement of air connectivity within state and skill up-gradation and capacity building of at least 20 thousand service providers in 3 years were given.

Roads and Buildings

Recommendations have been received in context to expedite forest and mining approvals to accelerate the pace of work of Chambal Progress Way and Narmada Express Way, making existing road infrastructure self-financeable for maintenance, renewal and up-gradation, full utilization of toll potential for untolled roads, creation of high level forum in fast settlement of disputes related to interpretation of contract clauses, potential of construction of government buildings on annuity basis (Rent/Grant), self-finance mechanism based on value capture financing for urban by-passes and ring roads, implementation of fast tag system at all the toll plaza, development of 13 major state highways on BOT basis and development of IT based project management system.

Logistics and Transport

Proposals have been given for formulating policy concerning streamlining transportation taxation policies, increase in rural connectivity, development of multi-modal logistic chain leveraging technology, renovating delivery of services through e-Governance and establishment of air cargos for perishable goods.


Hundred percent water supply through taps in rural areas will be ensured by March 2024. In the year 2020-21, this will be increased from 15 to 35 percent, which will be more than the national average of 25.8 percent. Water will be made available through taps in all the villages of Niwari and Burhanpur districts by March-2021. Training of plumber, mason and electrician will be imparted to over 50 thousand youths. Employment will be provided to 5 lakh 50 thousand workers through self-help groups. Tap connections will be provided to all schools, hospitals, aaganwadi centres and panchayats.


In the year 2020-21, the work of 105 irrigation projects will be completed. This will facilitate irrigation on 2 lakh 63 thousand hectare area. In this manner, the total irrigation capacity in the state will increase to 42.90 lakh hectare from 40.27 lakh hectare. There is a target to decide agency for 87 projects costing Rs. 26 thousand 100 crore and to complete 225 projects during the year 2021 to 2023. This will enhance the irrigation capacity to 53.36 lakh hectare. Target has been set to increase the irrigation capacity to 75 lakh hectare by the year 2026. Proposal has been given to earn additional annual revenue of Rs. 200 crore by selling the by-products of desilting/dredging.

Energy to become world's largest floating solar project

In order to fulfill the upcoming energy requirements of Madhya Pradesh and to make it self-reliant in this field, setting up of 1320 MW thermal power plants, setting up Green Energy Corridors through Solar Power Generation, developing 4500 MW Solar Parks and setting up the world’s largest floating solar project of 600 MW in Omkareshwar, providing battery storage facility, developing e-vehicle charging infrastructure on PPP model in major cities, monetization of transmission assets, smart metering, creating suitable models through private participation in power distribution and training rural youth in ITIs for line maintenance has been recommended.

Urban Development

Experts have also recommended expansion of 100 centres of Deendayal Rasoi Yojana, implementation of Urban Livelihood Mission in all cities, setting up start-up incubation centres in seven cities, making capital loan available to 5 lakh street-vendors, make credit linked subsidy available to 30,000 EWS beneficiaries, all 378 cities to be made ODF Plus, 100 percent source segregation of waste and up to 75 percent recycling of solid waste, providing all citizens facilities online, conducting GIS based property survey in remaining 269 cities, online landuse certificate and lay-out approval in cities, 100 percent tendering of various packages of Indore and Bhopal metro train, LED street light on PPP model in 100 cities and GIS-based development of all cities with more than one lakh population.
