Energy Minister Shri Tomar conducts surprise inspection of Area Store Bhopal

Issues instructions to pay special attention to material management and quality

Energy Minister Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar on Tuesday conducted a surprise inspection of the Area Store of Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company located in Govindpura. During the inspection, he stayed in the area store for more than one and a half hour. He directed the officers to take special care of material management and quality for the smooth functioning of power distribution system. Shri Tomar said that it is the priority of the state government to ensure 24-hour power supply to the domestic consumers and 10-hour power supply to the agriculture sector at all costs.

Energy Minister Shri Tomar checked the date of purchase, name of the company, capacity and guarantee period on the tags fitted in the distribution transformers. On enquiring about the power transformer, he was told that the power transformer will be installed in 50 new sub-stations to be built soon in the area of company’s jurisdiction. He said that adequate availability of distribution transformers should be ensured during the Rabi season so that the damaged and burnt transformers can be replaced within the stipulated time.

Physical verification of transformer oil tank

Shri Tomar conducted physical verification of the transformer oil tank and got the quantity of oil tallied with the stock register. The Energy Minister enquired about the availability of electricity meters. He instructed to replace the defective and burnt meters immediately and said that meter should be installed in every consumer’s house. He also inspected the meter testing lab.

Energy Minister Shri Tomar checked the stock position till date and the availability of goods like distribution transformers, power transformers etc. He was apprised with the availability of material in the company’ work jurisdiction. Energy Minister Shri Tomar directed the high officials of the company to purchase high quality materials to maintain the power system and management should be done in such a way that the availability of materials is ensured at the field level, all the maintenance work, maintenance of new sub-stations and low and high tension lines as well as there should be no dearth of material for construction work. He stated the need for physical verification of the store and said that immediate action should be taken on these audit reports.

Managing Director of the company Shri Vishesh Gadhpale told the Energy Minister that meter testing labs have been set up in area stores in Bhopal, Itarsi, Guna and Gwalior of the company's work jurisdiction. More than 250 meter tests are conducted daily. Here meter testing is conducted by automatic system. Managing Director Shri Gadhpale told the Energy Minister that the entire area store is computerized and incoming-outgoing availability of goods is ensured through ERP. CCTV cameras have been installed all around the area store. The record of each incoming employee, outsider or material supplier is maintained.

Among those present during the surprise inspection of the area store were Chief General Manager (Stores), Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company, Sushri Manisha Meshram, Chief General Manager (Bhopal Region) Shri D.P. Ahirwar, General Manager (Area Store) Shri Vinay Sinha, General Manager (City Circle) Bhopal Shri Amritpal Singh as well as senior officers and employees.
