The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that officers should make their mindset that I will not let rights of poor to be snatched away. Collectors and DFOs should listen carefully, any tribal who was dwelling on land on or before December 31, 2005 should get pattas mandatorily. No eligible tribal should be deprived of Patta. In the event of slightest negligence, strict action will be taken, he added.

The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has said that rejection in large number of forest rights claims of 3 lakh 58 thousand 339 tribal reflects that the task has not been taken by the officers seriously. The tribal community is such a section of the society which is not able to present its say in a right manner, in such a case it is absolutely improper to ask for evidence for pattas from them and to reject their claims on its basis. All Collectors and DFOs are required to re-examine all the cases and submit report within a week. It is must to give patta to tribals, he added.

The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was reviewing the redressal of pattas at Mantralaya. The Minister for Tribal Welfare Sushri Meena Singh, Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Shri Ashok Varnwal, Principal Secretary Smt. Pallavi Jain Govil and other officers were present at the meeting.

Give pattas if they dwell on revenue land

During the review of forest rights claims, the fact came to the fore that there are so many cases, in which tribal are dwelling on revenue land. The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan instructed the Chief Secretary Shri Bains to provide pattas of revenue land to such tribals after examining the cases.

153 claims out of 160 rejected

In the meeting, the Chief Minister Shri Chouhan held district wise review of claims of pattas. It was found in the review of Morena district that 153 claims out of 160 have been rejected. Expressing anguish over the same, the Chief Minister Shri Chouhan asked that whether officers wish to give pattas or not. Strict action will be taken if they deal with poor in such a manner. Warning was issued for poor progress in work in Katni and Seoni district.

Appreciates Barwani district

The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has found that in Barwani district, claims of pattas of 9764 tribal have been approved out of 10 thousand 438 forest right claims. He lauded the Collector as well as DFO of Barwani district and congratulated them. Indore district was also congratulated for good achievement in this task.

Adiwasi Panchayats to be organized

The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that Adiwasi Panchayats will be organized shortly in tribal areas, which will be attended by him and Minister for Tribal Welfare Sushri Meena Singh too. Pattas will be distributed among the tribals in these panchayats.

Do not reject claims of non-tribal too

The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has instructed that the cases of non-tribal, who are also eligible, should not be rejected without any reason. Their cases should be examined and pattas should also be given to them as per the provisions. In the review of Bhopal district, it was found that 6794 forest right claims including 404 of tribal and remaining of non tribal have been rejected.
