Will supply pure water to every house through tap connections

Work to be done and completed under Mission Mode by 2023
Rs. 1280 crore to be given by Central Government in current year for mission

The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a video conferencing called by the Union Minister for Water Resources Shrii Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that a target to supply pure water to every house of the rural areas of the state under the Rashtritya Jal Jeevan Mission will be completed. The Centre has directed to complete the work by 2023 instead of 2024, accordingly the plan will be re-scheduled and the work will be carried out under the mission mode.

The Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Shri Malay Shrivastava and other concerned officers were present at the video conferencing.

Centre to give Rs. 1280 crore

The Union Minister for Water Resources Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in the video conferencing informed that under Jal-Jeevan Mission now the targets set by the year 2023 have to be achieved. This year, the Central Government will give a budget of Rs. 1280 crore to Madhya Pradesh for the implementation of the mission. The same amount will be provided by the state government. Along with this, Rs. 6500 crore approx. will be provided to Madhya Pradesh under MNREGA. Under MNREGA, 65 percent amount is to be spent for water related works; therefore some of this amount can also be used for Jal Jeevan mission.

Target to supply potable water to 103 lakh families through pipeline

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that there is a plan under the Jal Jeevan Mission to supply pure potable water to the remaining 85 percent (103.67 lakh) families through FHTC (Functional Household Tap Connection) by the year 2023-24.

Desired progress not achieved in last 9 months

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that Jal Nigam was formed in the year 2012 in the state, by which group water supply schemes are being implemented. About 9 months have passed since the Jal Jeevan Mission was started by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi but the expected progress has not been made in the state. To speed up the work, Rajya Jal and Swacchta Mission has been formed in the state and Apex Committee and Executive Committees have been constituted under it.

Single Nodal Account for transactions

The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that in accordance with the guidelines of the Government of India, permission has been granted to open a single nodal account for the transactions of the mission. At the same time, the process of empanelment of the institutions required for the implementation of the mission has also been started. The work of retrofitting of pre-established and current prevailing schemes will be started immediately.

Pure potable water in 321 quality affected villages

The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that potable water will be made available in a total of 321 quality affected villages of the state by the end of this year. In the proposed action plan for the year 2020-21, works in large number will be started in SC-ST dominated villages. Sansad Adarsh ​​Gram and Akanshi Jila will also be given priority.

One lakh 31 thousand tap connections (HFTC) in 805 villages

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that 19 group schemes worth Rs. 1231 crore have been completed by Jal Nigam, through which more than One lakh 31 thousand active domestic tap connections (FHTCs) have been provided in 805 villages of the state. At present works worth Rs. 8 thousand 375 crore are in progress in 39 group schemes under the Jal Nigam.

5.45 lakh connections in current year and 7.84 lakh connections next year

The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that 5 lakh 45 thousand FHTC connections will be provided in the state in the year 2020-21 under the schemes costing Rs.3 thousand crore and in the year 2021-22, Seven lakh 84 thousand FHTC will be provided from under schemes costing Rs. 2 thousand crore.

Connections, where there is no ground water source

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that DPR of surface water based group water supply schemes has been prepared in the areas where ground water is not sufficiently available. These works will be carried out under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

N.A.B.L. certification of Water Labs

The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that in order to ensure good quality potable water in the villages through tap water schemes, the water laboratories of the districts will be certified by the NABL in a phased manner.

What is Jal Jeevan Mission

Jal Jeevan Mission was started by the Government of India to ensure constant and adequate supply of good quality potable water to one hundred percent families in rural area. This was announced by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on August 15, 2019. The objective of the mission is to provide 55 liters of pure water per person per day through the functional domestic tap connection (FHTC) in every house by the year 2024. Now the deadline for the completion of this target has been changed to 2023.
