Farmers should be facilitated to sell wheat through both mediums Mandis and Souda Patrak : CM Shri Chouhan

Rs. 4629 crore paid to farmers

The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the ongoing wheat procurement work in the state today. Shri Chouhan said that the procurement work should be conducted simultaneously in mandis and through Souda Patrak (Sale Letter). Options to sell wheat should be made available to the farmers. All the regular necessary arrangements should be ensured in the interest of the farmers. He directed to take necessary steps at the district level to benefit the farmers with the arrangement of private mandis. Shri Chouhan further added that the payment of work to the farmers should be carried out without any delay.

It was informed in the meeting that since the start of the procurement work till today, May 06, total 49 lakh MT wheat has been procured from 8 lakh 50 thousand farmers. Forty lakh MT wheat i.e. 82 percent wheat out of the total procured has been transported safely to the warehouses.

An amount of about Rs. 4629 crore has been deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers against the procured wheat.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan sought information in context to the wheat storage and other necessary arrangements from the officers of the Food and Civil Supplies and Agriculture departments. The Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary to CM Shri Manish Rastogi, Director Public Relations Shri Om Prakash Shrivastava and other officers were present at the meeting.
