Procurement of Chana and Masoor at support price from April 29

Rs. 36 crore transferred in Farmers’ accounts
CM Shri Chouhan reviews Wheat Procurement activity

The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that along with the ongoing wheat procurement work, procurement of Chana and Masoor at support price will also begin from April 29. He directed that all the necessary arrangements should be ensured in all the districts in this regard. This work should be started following the guidelines, lockdown and social distancing. Shri Chouhan was reviewing the Rabi procurement work in the state through video conferencing at Mantralaya today.

16 lakh 73 thousand MT wheat procured from 3 lakh 72 thousand farmers

In context to the wheat procurement, the Principal Secretary Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Shri Shiv Shekhar Shukla has informed that till date, 16 lakh 73 thousand MT wheat has been procured from 3 lakh 72 thousand farmers at all the procurement centres of the state. An amount of Rs. 560 crore has been transferred to the banks for immediate payment to the farmers and out of this Rs. 36 crore has been deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers.

Samiti Sevak suspended for posting fake SMS

It was informed in the meeting that a case of a Sahkari Samiti Sevak in Sheopur has come to the light for posting fake SMS to the farmers and calling them at the procurement center. As a result, there was a rush of farmers at the procurement center. In this matter, an action has been taken against the Samiti Sevak by suspending him.

SMS are being sent in limited numbers

As regard to the procurement of Chana and Masoor, the Principal Secretary Agriculture Shri Ajit Kesri has informed that daily 6 SMS for Chana and 6 SMS for Masoor are being sent to the farmers. This will ensure the enforcement of the lockdown and the protocol of social distancing. He further stated that the procurement of Sarson is also being started in most of the districts.

The Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains and DGP Shri Vivek Johri were present at the meeting.
