Banks must start home access service for public

ATMs should not remain empty; Digital payments must be encouraged
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan issues instructions in Bankers’ meeting

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that there is a situation of lockdown in the state due to Corona crisis. Many places have also been sealed. In such a situation, banks must provide Home Access Service to the public for cash requirement. Account holders should be provided facility to withdraw funds of various government schemes in the village itself. Banks must ensure availability of cash in ATMs. Digital payment must be encouraged. For this purpose, banks should ensure branch-wise and village-wise micro planning. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was addressing a meeting of State Level Advisory Committee of banks in Mantralaya today. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Field General Manager of Central Bank of India, Convener of the State Level Bankers Committee Shri S.D. Mahurkar and other concerned officials.

Banks must ensure all protective measures

The Chief Minister directed that all protective measures such as masks, sanitizers, gloves etc. should be taken in the banks. Adequate distance should be kept between the bank employee and the customer at the time of transaction. All bankers should take full care of their health. A small number of customers should be admitted at a time in adherence to social distancing in bank branches. The Chief Minister suggested that in larger cities, a few banks have more branches in the same area. Therefore one branch can be kept functional by combining branches. He said that crowd can be reduced by making more counters.

Police arrangement must be ensured

The Chief Minister directed that local police should also be arranged along with the security personnel of the bank to control the number of customers in the branches of the bank and to avoid crowd. The Collector of the district concerned must ensure this.

Up-down must be prevented

The Chief Minister said that many bankers travel from the cities to the village and vice-versa. This increases the risk of infection. He said that it should be stopped in view of the Corona crisis.

Banking service through B.C. and kiosks must be ensured

The Chief Minister said that in view of the lockdown, banking services should be ensured through banking correspondents and kiosks. Banking services should also be provided through mobile vans, ATMs and through post offices and Gramin Dak Sevaks also in rural areas. It was informed that a micro plan is being prepared for every village through10 thousand 343 B.C. to visit the villages.

Kiosks must open on time

The Chief Minister directed that kiosks operated by banks in rural and sub-urban areas should be opened on the scheduled day and time, so that people can withdraw money through them. A bank official informed that 16 thousand 700 fix points (kiosks) are being operated in rural and suburban areas in the state by the banks for payment. With this, about 8 thousand 500 rural post offices and about 9 thousand rural Dak Sevaks are working in the state. Instructions were also given to provide banking services in villages through them.

Your money is safe

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that some people are spreading such rumours that there will be a shortage of money in banks. It is not like that, your money is safe in banks. You can withdraw your money whenever you want. Banking services will be smooth in the state.

Beneficiaries should not have trouble withdrawing money

The Chief Minister said that Rabi will be procured in the state in the coming time. During this time, about Rs 25 thousand crores will come in the bank accounts of farmers. Bankers should ensure that cash is available in banks, banks open regularly and people have no problem in withdrawing money. 

B.C. time 12 hours and bank time 6 hours

A bank official informed that the working hours of Bank Correspondent for banking services has been changed for 12 hours from 7 am to 7 pm. At the same time, the working hours of banks in all districts during lockdown will be from 10 am to 4 pm. Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains assured the bankers that no disruption in the functioning of banks will be allowed in any district.

9,405 ATMs to remain open 24 x 7

A bank official told the Chief Minister that at present, 7 thousand 800 branches of all banks in the state are providing cash deposit, cash withdrawal, transfer of funds and check clearing facilities to customers. Total 9 thousand 405 ATMs of all banks in the state are open 24 x 7. Cash is available in all the banks.
