Due to delimitation process, three new Lok Sabha constituencies namely Dewas, Tikamgarh and Ratlam have come into existence. At the same time, Shajapur, Seoni and Jhabua have ceased to exist as Parliamentary seats and have been merged in other areas. The total number of Parliamentary seats in Madhya Pradesh is 29.
After delimitation process undertaken in the year 2007, Parliamentary constituencies have also undergone change like Vidhan Sabha constituencies. This has resulted into emergence of three new Parliamentary constituencies viz Dewas, Tikamgarh and Ratlam which stood merged in other constituencies earlier. Similarly, three old seats namely Shajapur, Seoni and Dewas have been dissolved and merged in other areas. Due to changes in Parliamentary seats, Vidhan Sabha seats under them have also undergone changes. This delimitation process was undertaken in 2007 under Delimitation (Amended) Act 2003 (3 of 2004). The process has been published in the gazettes of Government of India and state government.
