The Madhya Pradesh Government has received a loan from International
Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IRD) towards the cost of the
Madhya Pradesh Water Sector Restructuring Project (MPWSRP), and it
intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under
the contract (s) for the rehabilitation works of Chambal Right Main
Canal 60 to 169 Kilometers involving 4.009 million cubic meters earth
work and 243000 cubic meters cement concrete (Slice 1); Ambah Branch
Canal 0 to 143.4 Kilometers involving 2.932 million cubic meters earth
work and 153000 cubic meters cement concrete (Slice 2); Lower Main
Canal 0 to 50 Kilometers involving 1.04 million cubic meters earth
work and 47000 cubic meters cement concrete (Slice 3); and Morena
Branch Canal 0 to 36 Kilometers involving 453000 cubic meters earth
work and 53000 cubic meters cement concrete (Slice 4); or as Package
Number 01 consisting of all four slices involving 8.434 million cubic
meters earth work and 496000 cubic meters cement concrete. Work in the
slices/package includes re-sectioning and strengthening of canals by
compacting earth works, cement concrete lining in selected reaches,
major/minor repairs and restoration of canal structures, etc.

The Chief Engineer, Yamuna Basin, Water Resource Department,
Government of Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior intends to pre-qualify
contractors and/or firms for the above mentioned works. Work stated in
each slice and package is proposed to be completed in thirty six (36)
months including rainy season and irrigation period i.e. three (3)
closure period of canal which is normally seven (7) months during
March 15 to October 15 every year. It is expected that invitation for
bids will be made in March 2007. Pre-qualification will be conducted
through pre-qualification procedures specified in the World Bank
Guidelines; Procurement under IBRD loans and IDA Credits, May 2004 and
as amended up to date and is open to all bidders from eligible source
countries, as defined in the guidelines.

Interested eligible applicants may obtained further information from
and inspect the pre-qualification documents at the office of the Chief
Engineer, Yamuna Basin at the address given below on any working day
from December 18, 2006 to January 31, 2007 during 1030 hours to 1730
hours (IST). A complete set of the Pre-qualification document in
English may be purchased by the interested applicants (a) on the
submission of a written application to the address below, and (b) upon
payment of a non-refundable fee of Indian Rupees 10,000 (Rupees Ten
Thousand only) or US$ 220 (Two hundred twenty only). The method of
payment will be in cash or by Demand Draft in favor of Executive
Engineer, Water Resources Division, Morena payable at Morena, Madhya
Pradesh, India. The document will be sent by speed post on an
additional payment of Indian Rupees 500 (Rupees Five Hundred Only) or
US$ 12 (Twelve only).

Interested eligible applicants may apply for one or more slices of
work or for the whole package. If an applicant applies for more than
one slice, he has to qualify for the sum of qualifications prescribed
for the slices which he is applying for. Similarly an applicant
applying for the package has to qualify for the entire package i.e.
sum of the qualifications prescribed for all the four slices.

Application for the Pre-qualification should be submitted in sealed
envelopes, delivered to the address given below and clearly marked
''Application to prequalify for Madhya Pradesh Water Sector
Restructuring Project for the rehabilitation of Chambal Right Main
Canal 60.00 to 169 Kilometer (Slice 1) or Ambah Branch Canal 0 to
143.40 Kilometer (Slice 2) or Lower Main Canal 0 to 50 Kilometer
(Slice 3) or Morena Branch Canal 0 to 36.10 Kilometer (Slice 4) or
Package number 1 consisting of all the four Slices'' , as the case may
be, by February 01, 2007.
