This
is one of the hundreds of stories of success. This
particular story is success of few women who started
Self Help Group and worked hard to earn money so that
they can help their families financially. Gram
Panchayat Badgaon in Katni district is known for its
lac jewelleries. The ornaments manufactured here are
sold in several big cities of the country.
Under
Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojna, financial
assistance was made available to Jai Maa Bhavani Self
Help Group of Badgaon Gram Panchayat. Through bank Rs
three lakh was given as loan and Rs one lakh as
subsidy to this Self Help Group of women. Members of
the Group say that their income was not sufficient to
meet the two ends of the family. The women wanted to
help their families financially. When discussion was
held at the Gram Panchayat about Self Help Group, the
women had no idea what type of business they should
do. A few members of the Group knew about
manufacturing of lac jewelleries. Later they decided
to start manufacturing of lac jewelleries. The women
who were expert trained others also in this field.
Mahesh Lahera, who was an expert in manufacturing
beautiful lac jewelleries, gave more tips to the women
of Self Help Group. The raw material to manufacture
lac jewelleries are brought from Dhamtari and Jaipur.
The women of Self Help Group started manufacturing
chain, bracelet, anklet, bichhiya, karghan, ring,
mangalsutra etc with lac.
The
beautiful lac ornaments manufactured by the Jai Maa
Bhavani Self Help Group were sold in cities like
Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata
and other towns. There was exhibition and sale of the
ornaments manufactured by the Self Help Group at Saras
Mela. In the year 2009 Saras Mela was held at Kolkata
in which shops were erected on behalf of Madhya
Pradesh also. In this Mela the Mandap of Madhya
Pradesh was awarded third prize. In this Mandap,
beautiful lac ornaments were displayed and sold.
Sakhi
Bai and Asha Bai, members of Jai Maa Bhavani Self Help
Group say that they were able to help financially in
their daughter's marriages after constitution of the
Self Help Group.
