Positive
changes are becoming evident in several villages
selected under the Gokul Gram scheme in the state. A
Gokul Gram Lohagal in Indore district is one of them.
It is heading towards becoming a complete clean
village.
In
the first stage, flush latrines have been constructed
in the houses of all the families living below the
poverty line in this village. Now a campaign has been
started to construct the flush latrines in the houses
of all other families in the village.
Situated
on the border of Indore and Ujjain districts in Sanver
development block, about 70 families including 26 poor
families live in Lohagal village. Under total
sanitation drive first of all flush latrines were
constructed in the houses of all 26 poor families in
the village. Realising the importance of the flush
latrines other families received inspiration and
started constructing flush latrines in their houses.
The
work of constructing flush latrines in the houses of
all other families was taken by them in the form of a
campaign. In order to encourage them, an initial
amount of Rs. 25 thousand is being sanctioned by the
district pancayat.
Now
the work of cleaning the lanes in the village has been
undertaken. As a result of this, cement concrete roads
were constructed in two lanes of the village by the
Janpad panchayat at the cost of about Rs. two lakh.
Cement concrete roads will soon be constructed in the
remaining three lanes of the village.
The
Sarpanch of the village, Shri Kok Singh is fully
devoted for the development of the village. He is now
engaged in bringing about a positive change in the
village. Financial help has been given to a resident
of the village Shri Jujhar Singh for starting poultry
farming under the backyard scheme. He is now earning
Rs. 50 to 60 daily as an additional income.
"Gokul
Van" is also being developed in the village for
which a place has been selected and other preparations
have been made. Plantation will be started soon in
this "Gokul Van". Mid-day meals are being
provided to the children of the school in the village
regularly "Dal Roti" or Subzi roti" is
served to the school children. It now appears that
Lohagal village will soon become a completely clean
village with the cooperation of the Government
Departments and its residents.
