PTA resolves water problem in a school

Bhopal : Friday, April 22, 2005 Updated 18:38 IST

The Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) constituted in schools in Madhya Pradesh are playing a laudable role in the management of schools.

The PTA has resolved a chronic problem of drinking water in the school of Gokul Gram Loni in Burhanpur district. Drinking water was transported to the village although there are two handpumps in the school. The ground water level in them considerably went down with the result the water source was dried up.

Under the announcement made in the Prime Minister's Scheme, the PTA installed a handpump by contributing their ten percent share in view of the examinations during the March-April and got the work done on priority basis.

Following the efforts made by the PTA now sufficient drinking water is being supplied in the school. There are 304 students in the higher secondary school, 124 students in the middle school, 89 in the girls middle school and 25 students in the Anganwadi situated in the premises of the school. Now, these children have neither to bring water bottles from homes nor they have to wait for the water tanker.
