A
farmer of village Sandalpur in Dewas district, Shri
Ashok Yadav has set an example before others by
realising his pledge to construct a tank on his four
acre field. He spent about Rs. 2.5 lakh on the
construction of the tank.
Shri
Ashok Yadav said that permanent arrangement had been
made for irrigating his 61 acres field with the
construction of the tank. Now, by excluding the
expenditure incurred on the tank, he would easily earn
Rs. five lakh annually from the income of the crops.
Shri
Ashok Yadav said his uncle, Shri Murat Singh Patel is
the "Vasuli Patel" of Khategaon. In
spite of the family possessing 65 acres land, its
members could not earn the requisited income from the
crops in the absence of irrigation facility. Shri
Ashok Yadav said that he being an agriculture graduate
had been constantly trying for hi-tech farming. In
spite of digging several tubewells during last 15
years, no arrangement for adequate water availability
could be made, he added.
Shri
Yadav said that he was impressed by the programme of
the national water conservation scheme being conducted
by the Agriculture Department in Sandalpur area of
Khategaon for the past several years. After learning
about it, he took a pledge to construct a tank by
stopping the water of nullahs and two small auxillary
nullahs flowing through his field. This pledge was
taken by the family members unitedly and they worked
together for the construction of the tank under the
guidance of a surveyer Shri Billore. He said that he
worked hard for days and nights with the help of a
tractor and constructed the tank on four acres of
land. The length of the tank is 600 metres, width 6
metres and its height is 3 metres.
Two
metres deep soil was dug out from the field and it was
deposited on the border of the tank. Other necessary
steps were also taken for the construction of the
tank.
Shri
Ashok Yadav has also appealed to other farmers to
construct tanks in their fields if they wanted to make
permanent arrangement for irrigating their fields.
