Determination defeats poverty

Bhopal : Monday, July 12, 2010 Updated 21:05 IST

These days, it has become difficult to meet both the ends for the common people, who have limited income. Due to this, they face a lot of difficulties from time to time. Shri Bharti Dehriya of village Makanjhir in Lakhnadon tehsil of Seoni district was also facing such grave difficulties. But she faced all these hurdles with courage and determination due to which poverty accepted its defeat. It may be mentioned that her husband used to be the lone bread-earner of the family. He used to sell articles by vending nearby villages riding his cycle. But he could not eke out enough money to meet the requirements of his family well.

Smt.. Bharti Dehriya wanted to do something for increasing the family’s income. She talked to the village’s public representatives in this connection. During the talks, she came to know of the schemes being run by the District Entrepreneur Committee Smt. Bharti who belongs to scheduled castes, talked to the CEO of District Entrepreneur Committee, who advised her to start a shop of bangles near the national highway. After consulting her family members, Smt. Bharti started the shop when a loan worth Rs. 25,000 was provided to her under Mahila Samriddhi Yojana of National Scheduled Caste Finance and Development Corporation apart from Rs. 10,000 subsidy.

Nowadays, Smt. Bharti is running the shop skillfully. She has repaid the loan and intends to expand her shop. Bharti is of firm belief that those who work with determination succeed in life. She also advises other women of the village to start their self-employment ventures.
