"Aama
nullah"
- an ordinary water
course filled during
rainy season has become
the research subject for
an eleventh passed
farmer Narayan Pawar.
The 43 years old farmer
from a village named
Byabadi, 13 km from
Betul district
headquarters invented a
technique of water
recharging with the help
of this ordinary flowing
nallah. By this
technique huge quantity
of underground water can
be stored and flowing
water during the rainy
season could be
collected and utilized
for the crops.
Narayan
Pawar installed a
tubewell in the year
1990-91 but after
sometime due to
increased digging of
tubewells the level of
water become very low.
And at last all the
tubewells were dried up.
Narayan felt that
increased number of
tubewells have drained
off the underground
water. He started to
make efforts for storage
of underground water.
The farmer digged a well
near Aama nallah near
his field and connected
it to the nallah and
filled the well. And
then by using the siphon
method he poured the
water of the well to the
dried tubewell. This
increased the flow of
water in tubewell. He
then increased the
number of pipes from two
to four with a width of
2.5 cm.
Shri
Pawar successfully
implemented the process
in every rainy season.
He stored the under
ground water through
these pipes in every
three months during the
rainy season. He says
that there is no
scarcity of water in the
nearby 25 tubewells. His
brother Sadanlal says
that last year they took
up sugarcane crops in 7
acres and yielded a
profit of Rs. 1.75 lakh
by sale of jaggery.
Shri
Narayan Pawar says that
people having tubewells
do not check their
needs. He says that only
those people have the
right to use the
underground water who
used the technique of
water recharging.
