The
work of collecting entire information about the government
staff to be deployed in poll duty during the coming Lok
Sabha elections is going to be begin. The Election
Commission has made it clear that that the officials to be
deployed in poll-related duties must be voters themselves.
Therefore, if an official's name is not included in the
voter's list then it must be added in the updated list.
The commission has accelerated the momentum of
preparations for Lok Sabha elections.
The
commission has entrusted the Chief Electoral Officer the
task of reviewing the database structure of the government
employees who are to be deployed in elections. Their
number will have to be checked as voters Vidhan Sabha
constituency-wise. The database of an employee must
contain his full address, telephone number, mobile number
and e-mail address. The commission wants to ensure that
these employees' names are included in voters' lists. The
commission will not tolerate any mistake or lacuna which
might hamper free and fair elections.
The
commission has also made it clear that with a view to
pre-empting any haste, tension and dereliction it is
imperative that all the information about the polling
staff is collected at the earliest. It has also instructed
to prepare a separate database of Central government
employees since they will be deployed as micro observers.
It has been made explicit that no Central government
employee will be deployed on election duty during the
coming Lok Sabha elections.
The
Chief Electoral Officer has been told to set the norms of
randomization of the software being developed for the
information database about the government employees and
approve the same at the earliest. Similarly, the National
Informatics Centre (N.I.C.) has been told to leave alone
the randomization software being used by other states and
concentrate on developing the software which is to be sent
to the top Election Commission officers.
