The
Election Commission has taken a tough stand on the
implementation of model code of conduct for elections.
Special teams are being deployed to shoot various
election-related activities through video cameras.
Responsibility of this work has been entrusted to Deputy
Conservators of Forests who will work under direct control
of office of the chief electoral officer.
Every
video team will have a video camera and an operator. A
sub-inspector and two police jawans will accompany each
team for providing security to it. The team incharge will
maintain contact with the state election office through
telephone and fax. They will be given guidelines and
consultation about videography in sensitive areas. The
teams have been strictly instructed not to take orders
from any authority but the State Election Office. However,
the teams may take necessary help for the district
administration. It has also been made clear that the team
will not information about the work done by them to any
other office or officer other than the office of the Chief
Electoral Officer.
In
case of serious violation of model code of election laws,
the videography team will capture the incident on the
video camera and submit the proof to the office of the
Chief Electoral Officer. Intimidation and harassment of
voters by criminals and anti-social elements will also be
videographed.
