farmers’ family at village
Jait in Sehore district,
Shri Shivraj Singh holds a
Master’s in Philosophy
(gold medallist of
Barkatulla University). His
father’s name is Shri Prem
Singh Chouhan and mother's
name is Smt. Sundar Bai
Chouhan. He was married to
Smt. Sadhana Singh in 1992.
They have two sons.

Chouhan is a compassionate
person right from early
childhood. Shri Chouhan was
President of Model Higher
Secondary School Students’
Union in 1975. He
participated in underground
movement against Emergency
and imprisoned in Bhopal
Jail in1976-77 and on
several other occasions for
political agitations for
solution of problems of
people.
Shri
Chouhan is a volunteer of
the Rashtriya Swayamsevak
Sangh (R.S.S.) since 1977.
He was appointed Organizing

of Bharatiya Janata Yuva
Morcha from 2000 to 2003. He
was also the Chairman of
House Committee (Lok Sabha)

from 2000 to 2004. He was
re-elected to 14th Lok Sabha
(5th term) in 2004. He was

Housing Committee of Lok
Sabha. BJP and member of

Shri
Chouhan was appointed
President of BJP, Madhya
Pradesh in 2005.
Shri
Shivraj Singh Chouhan has
been organizing religious
and cultural activities and
seminars. He has been
arranging marriages for the
poor and orphan girls. He
has also been engaged in
activities for uplift of
scheduled castes, struggle
against injustice and
development of slums and
promoting social harmony.
A
farmer by profession, Shri
Chouhan is deeply interested
in music, spiritual
literature, debates and
discussions with friends.
Sight seeing, listening to
songs and watching movies
are his favourite pastime.
In sports, he likes Kabaddi,
cricket and volleyball and
is associate with various
sports institutions in rural
areas.
Shri
Shivraj Singh Chouhan was
sworn in as Chief Minister
of Madhya Pradesh on
November 29 , 2005.
Shri
Chouhan essayed the role of
star campaigner for
Bharatiya Janata Party in
the elections to the 13th
Vidhan Sabha and ensured
victory for the party. On
December 10, 2008, he was
unanimously elected leader
of the 143-member of
Bharatiya Janata Party
legislature party. On
December 12, 2008 Shri
Chouhan took the oath of the
office of Madhya Pradesh
Chief Minister and secrecy
at Jamboree ground in
Bhopal.
