The
State Government is implementing a "Chhatragrih
Yojana in order to provide housing facility to the
students of the backward classes studying in post-matric
classes.
Housing
facility will be made available to the groups of
students of the backward classes. The facility be
provided under this scheme to such backward classes
students, who come to the divisional headquarters from
far-off areas for pursuing their post-matric studies
and have no housing facility.
Under
this scheme, the students should be eligible for post-matric
scholarships and admission to the departmental
hostels. The benefit of this scheme would be given to
the students only when there is no vacancy available
in the departmental hostels.
The
rent of the house suitable to accommodate a group of
atleast five or more students and the payment for
electricity and water charges fixed from time to time
will be paid from the district level budget. The
students of families with annual income of Rs.25
thousand will be eligible to get the benefit under
this scheme. The eligible students will have to submit
their applications through the principals of their
institutions to the district powers of the Tribal
Welfare Department. The concerning principal will have
the authority to sanction the house rent upto Rs.250
and the district coordinator to sanction upto Rs. 750
per month. The Collector is authorised to sanction
more house rent than prescribed under the scheme. The
students will be paid the scholarship at the hostel
rate. The facility will not be available to the
failure students.
A
committee will inspect such "Chhatragrih"
under the supervision of the collector, who will have
the authority to close down the "Chhatragrih"
in case irregularity or undesirable activities are
found.
