Ashram
schools are being run for providing
educational facilities to the
Scheduled Castes and Scheduled
Tribes boys and girls in the forest
areas and far off areas, where no
such facilities are available for
them.
Educational
facilities from first to eighth
standards are being made available
to them in these ashram schools.
Hostel facilities for all the S.C.
and S.T. students are also available
in these ashram schools. Residential
arrangements have been made for the
teachers in the premises of these
ashram schools.
Every
student seeking admission to these
ashram schools is eligible for
getting a stipend. A monthly stipend
of Rs. 350 for the boy and Rs. 360
for the girl will be paid to the
students studying in these ashram
schools for 10 months. In addition
to this, state scholarship of Rs. 20
and Rs. 30 per month will be paid to
the students studying in sixth to
eighth class respectively and
scholarship of Rs. 30 and Rs. 40 per
month will be paid to the students
of IX and X classes respectively.
There is also a provision of monthly
scholarship of Rs. 15 for 10 months
for the students studying in third
to fifth classes.
Admissions
to these ashram schools are given on
the recommendation of a committee
constituted for this purpose. Top
priority in admission is given to
those students who had studied there
last year. The admission forms are
given to the students free of cost
and they can be had from the
superintendents of the respective
ashram schools. Orders for admission
are given by the collectors on the
recommendation of the admission
committee.
The
panchayat institutions have also to
play their roles in the ashram
schools. The inspection of the
ashram schools is made by the gram
panchayat, its special committee or
its authorised member. The janpad
panchayats have to shoulder the
responsibility of running the ashram
schools in their areas. The
panchayats have to look after the
management of the mess, admission
and maintenance of the ashram
schools. The superintendents of such
ashram schools are under the control
of the district panchayat and the
janpad panchayat.
