Hostel facility to S.C., S.T. students in Delhi

As per the rules enforced in the state, the facilities of hostel are being provided to the students of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, who are receiving higher education in Delhi.

The scheme aims at providing the lodging and other facilities like water, electricity as to enable the students of these categories to meet out the expenditure.

The hostel facility is confined to only SC and ST students of Madhya Pradesh studying in Delhi city. This facility is made available to these students in the hostels of various universities and colleges located in Delhi city only.

Under this scheme, the students (both boys and girls) should be the bonafide residents of Madhya Pradesh and their castes should be prescribed in the lists of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes of Madhya Pradesh. The students should be studying in the graduation (first year) or above classes or in the professional courses in government or recognised private institutions. Besides, they should be eligible to receive post-matric scholarship compulsorily.

In addition to this, only those students of these categories who have passed XII class (10+2) examination from any school in Madhya Pradesh are eligible. This examination should be conducted either by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or M.P. Board of Secondary Education.

The admission will be given by the competent authority of concerning unviersity or college. In order to take the benefit of this scheme, the students will have to apply in a prescribed proforma through the concerning institution to the Special Commissioner, Madhya Pradesh Government, New Delhi. The Special Commissioner will be competent to sanction the amount under this scheme. This facility can be made available to all such students of Madhya Pradesh.

In Delhi city under the hostel facility scheme, the students will be paid rent amount or Rs.1000, whichever is minimum. Besides, Rs.100 will be paid per student for 12 months for water and electricity expenses.

A stipend of Rs.500 per student will be paid to the student for 12 months. Besides, a grant of Rs.2000 will be paid to every student in one instalment at the time of admission. Rs.100 will be paid per month to meet out the expenditure on water and electricity and the student will have to bear the additional expenses himself. The students admitted to such higher educational institutions at Delhi, may contact the Collector of concerning district, assistant commissioner or district convenor of Tribal Welfare Department for this facility.
