Merit
scholarship scheme is being
implemented in the state to
encourage the brilliant students of
the scheduled castes and scheduled
tribes.
Under
the merit scholarship scheme,
monthly scholarship of Rs. 40 is
paid to the students at the middle
school level while Rs. 50 at the
high school level for 10 months.
There is no restriction of income
for the eligibility of this
scholarship. For the renewal of the
scholarship it is compulsory for
this students to pass their
examinations in the first attempt.
Only
those students, who stand in the
merit list upto a fixed number, are
eligible for the merit scholarships.
Under this scheme, the selection of
the beneficiary will be made on the
basis of merit position.
Under
the process for executing this
scheme, a merit list of the students
securing the position upto the fixed
number in the concerning districts
is prepared for the scholarship. In
addition to this, a waiting list of
10 students is also prepared. On the
basis of this list, the students
securing the merits are given the
scholarship. The collector has been
authorised for sanctioning this
scholarship.

assistant commissioner or district
convenor of the Tribal Welfare
Department for getting more
information and benefit of this
scheme.
