A training programme is being conducted in Madhya Pradesh with a view to preparing the youths of the scheduled castes and the scheduled tribes eligible for recruitment prior to it in the army.

The training programme has been launched to encourage the S.C. and S.T. youths for their recruitment in the army. It aims at preparing the desirous and eligible candidates for army in accordance with the prescribed qualification for the purpose. The main objective of the scheme is to provide them intellectual and physical training according to prescribed qualifications.

In the first stage, the candidates selected by the district level selection committees are trained in the departmental sports complexes by the district administration in cooperation with the army administration and the district police. In the second stage, a short time pre-training facility is provided to them at the government expenses. This facility is extended in the city where recruitment process is to take place and with the help of EME Centre. The candidates are not expected to spend anything from their pockets.

Such S.C. and S.T. youths who desire to seek entry in the army and those who have been selected by the district level selection committees for the training are eligible beneficiaries of this scheme. After the district level training, the principal takes the candidates of the sports complex to the recruitment places for the next training for their participation in the recruitment rally.

The selection committees constituted by the Collectors on the basis of the prescribed minimum educational qualifications and physical standard, select the eligible trainees in the districts.

The selection of the candidates for pre-recruitment training, the number of trainees and entire process of training are decided by the Tribal Commissioner at the expenses of the Tribal Welfare Department, according to which the Collectors implement the scheme.
